Northwind Ranch Awards Youth Scholarships at NSBA World Championship Show

Northwind Ranch is proud to announce it will begin rewarding the excellence exhibited by our youth in the show ring and in academic endeavors through The Northwind Youth Scholarship Program. The winner of the Youth Western Pleasure, as well as the winner of the Novice Youth Western Pleasure at the NSBA World Championship Show will receive a $500.00 Scholarship. At the Reichert Celebration, two $500.00 Scholarships will be awarded within the All Breed Youth Team Tournament competition.

 

The Northwind Ranch Youth Scholarship Program further demonstrates not only the ranch's commitment to the world class pleasure horse, but also its dedication to the future of the industry through youth exhibitors.

At the 2009 NSBA World Championship Show, the Appaloosa Horse Club will award $1000 to the owner of the highest placing Appaloosa in class #4200 2 Year Old Open Western Pleasure.

NSBA Licensing Program Information {read more}

Horses foaled in 2008 and thereafter, who are out of eligible sires can be licensed by December 15 of their weanling year for $100 and by December 31 of their yearling year for $200.  Horses foaled in 2008 and thereafter cannot be licensed after their yearling year.

All licensed horses are eligible to earn money for NSBA points earned in NSBA classes.  Payout for the class points will be based on the purse of donated and sold SIF sires for the competition year. The Stallion Nominator will receive 10% of the earnings of offspring.  The Foal nominator will receive 10% and the owner at the time of competition will receive 80% of the earnings.

What are SIF Classes? 

  • SIF Classes are a set of classes with added money offered regionally for 2 and 3 year olds.

 

What are the eligibility requirements for SIF classes?

 

  • The sire must be a sold breeding in the NSBA Stallion Incentive Fund for the competition year, 2009.  [List of sold stallion]
  • All entries in the SIF classes must be licensed.  This includes all buyer and owner designated foals with a free entry.   Horses will not be allowed to enter the SIF classes without showing an SIF License.  A License Form can be printed here or obtained from the NSBA office, 847-623-6722.
  • All owners and exhibitors must be NSBA members.  Show passes will not be accepted.

 

How much is the entry fee for the SIF classes?

 

  • The entry fee for each SIF class is $75.

 

 

What is the payout for the SIF classes?

 

  • The payout for the 2 year old Open Western Pleasure and Three year old Open Hunter Under Saddle classes are $1000* each.
  • The payout for the 3 year old Non-Pro Western Pleasure class is $500*

* At least 80% of the $75 entry fee is jackpotted and added to the purse.

Breed World Shows offer NSBA approved classes in July

In Jackson, Mississippi appaloosa horse enthusiasts will find the 62nd National Show and 2009 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show – June 22-July 4, 2009. The Nationals will again offer a wide variety of Dual Approved classes. A separate entry is required into the NSBA approved classes, as well as NSBA membership for the owner and exhibitor.

 The Palomino Horse Breeders of America will host their 2009 World Championship Show - July 14-25 in Tulsa, OK. In addition to being a Category I show and offer several futurity classes; PHBA will offer Dual Approved classes in Youth, Amateur and Open divisions.

abra.jpg Running July 28-August 2 also in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This show will offer NSBA Dual Approved and Futurity classes to ABRA registered horses.

NSBA Announces 2009 Scholarship Recipients

The National Snaffle Bit Association announces the recipients of three scholarships to youth members; T. Joe Jean, Carrie Schimpff and Kirsten Swanson.  {Click here to read more about recipients}  

The funds for the scholarships came from two sources.  10% of the money generated annually by the Trainer Sale is earmarked for the Scholarship Fund.  For the second year, Andrea Simons of Simons Show Horses in Aubrey, Texas generously donated a $1,000 scholarship in memory of her husband, Lynn Simons.
