Enrolling a Stallion Print E-mail

Stallion owners are asked to donate one breeding to the NSBA to be sold to mare owners.  The stallion nomination can be listed as available be sold to the public or reserved for a mare owner designated by the stallion owner including the stallion owners themselves.  The breeding must sell  by July 1st in order for the foals of that year to be eligible for Licensing.  Eligibility of offspring is based on the breeding selling for the offspring’s’ foaling year (not breeding year.)  Licensed 2 and 3 year olds must have their sire as a sold breeding during the competition year in order to be eligible for participation in the specific SIF classes that are offered.   (A schedule of these special SIF classes is provided annually).  No breedings may be purchased not sires grandfathered to create eligibility for the current year's SIF classes after July 1st.

Any stallion not enrolled and sold in the SIF program may enroll into the program any year following the foaling for a fee of $600, making offspring from each year enrolled eligible for SIF classes and licensing.  For offspring of the stallion to compete in the 2 and 3 year old SIF classes, the grandfather clause stallion nomination form must be submitted by the July 1st deadline and the stallion must be sold in the SIF program for the competition year.  $100 of the grandfathering fee will be used to cover operating expenses. If the grandfather fee is paid by a person other than the stallion owner, a Waiver form signed by the owner must be submitted to the NSBA.
