Message from the Chairman

Rebecca Hogan, 2017 Foundation Chair

In sitting down to write this letter as the Chair of the NSBA Foundation, I cannot help but reflect back on the reasons for my initial engagement with NSBA. As an owner, rider and breeder of Appaloosas my initial interest was with the Appaloosa show horses that our Chepota Farm was breeding.

A neighbor, actively involved in the Quarter Horse business, understood my desire to market our annual foal crop to individuals who shared our farm’s vision. As I began to meet folks involved with NSBA and understand the programs the Association offered, I was struck by the diversity of the group and the inclusive nature of its members.

Serving on the NSBA Foundation board I discovered the generosity of this group of NSBA members extends far beyond my initial impression. The Foundation welcomes and serves horse people of various needs; those injured or facing times of crisis, some who are challenged with physical or mental disabilities, young horse people with financial need wanting to further their education, and men and women who have served our country in uniform and love the horse as we all do.

Through inclusion, these programs have seen tremendous success enabling the Foundation to expand its services overall.  We are excited for 2017 and beyond to allow our programs to progress by continuing to welcome and include everyone.

If you aren’t familiar with the Foundation and our programs, please contact me or any member of our Board of Directors for information. There are numerous opportunities to give, either financially or by volunteering. Your donations are tax deductible and may be matched by your employer.

I want to encourage everyone who has donated in the past to please consider us again this year and ask another person to get involved.  We want to continue to grow and we invite everyone to participate.

Coming together is our BEGINNING;

Being together is our PROGRESS;

Working together is our SUCCESS.

Best of luck to you all and I look forward to meeting you at an NSBA event in the coming year.
