Ride in to the Future with NSBA Smart Points

2010 Payout was $95.31 Per Point!

NSBA has developed a program in which youth riders can earn incentive money to be applied to their future educational experiences (college, internships, trade schools, etc.) NSBA is taking a leadership role in rewarding youth for their participation in our NSBA programs and encouraging youth to become lifelong learners. Youth riders will apply to the scholarship program by paying a one time fee of $25 and completing the enrollment form.

Youth riders must have an NSBA membership and ride a licensed horse in order to earn scholarship money. The name on the scholarship enrollment and NSBA membership must be exactly the same.

Each NSBA point that the youth riders earn in a dual approved or other designated youth class will earn a money value, including novice youth and walk-trot classes. The youth will receive an annual print out of earnings. They will complete a form and submit it to NSBA to request their payout when they age out of the youth program (Jan. 1 of the year after youth turns 18). Requests for payout must be made by December 31 of the year the youth becomes eligible for the payout. Any earnings that are eligible for payout and remain unclaimed will be moved to the NSBA Scholarship fund annually.

NSBA will utilize the sanction fees paid by the youth to create the “pot”. Added to this will be the 10% of the trainer sale money which is contributed to scholarships annually.
