Programs Stallion Incentive Program General Information & Forms

NSBA Stallion Incentive Program

Stallion owners are encouraged to participate in this program by donating one breeding to be sold to mare owners.  Mare owners may purchase breeding for one half of the advertised stud fee plus $100 administrative fee.

All donated breedings will go on sale October 1 of each year.  Purchase of breedings will be posted by NSBA on a first received, first sold basis. The minimum cost to purchase a breeding is $400 ($300 plus $100).  Minimum fee for stallions standing at private treaty or not at all to the public is 1/2 of the highest paid stud fee for the calendar year or $600 (plus $100), whichever is greater.  The mare owner must be a current NSBA member to purchase a stallion breeding.

The stud fees collected are placed in a special fund to be distributed later in the program year.  The stud fees, less administrative fees, are paid out each year in Stallion Incentive Fund classes and License Program.

STALLION INCENTIVE FUND CLASSES

These classes will be offered annually at regional shows and at Alliance Partner World Championship Shows.  SIF classes to be held:

  • 2 Year Old Open Western Pleasure
  • 3 Year Old Open Hunter Under Saddle
  • 3 Year Old Non Pro Western Pleasure

All SIF classes will be offered after July 1st and will not be approved at any show during the NSBA World Championship Show.

The entry fee for these classes is $75 (payable at the show) with a minimum of 80% to be jackpotted and added to the purse.  To be eligible to compete in the SIF classes all horses must show a Stallion Incentive Fund License and be sired by a sold stallion in the Stallion Incentive Fund program for the competition year.

LICENSE PROGRAM

In addition to the Stallion Incentive Fund classes, all licensed horses are eligible to earn incentive fund points based on Dual Approved and Special Event shows earning cash value.  Payout is based on the purse of sold breedings for the current year.  All NSBA points earned in Dual Approved and Special Event Open and Amateur classes will be paid out.

The stallion nominator receives 10% of the earnings of offspring, the horse nominator earns 10% and the owner of the horse earns 80% of the License payout.

GRANDFATHER CLAUSE

Any stallion not enrolled and sold in the Stallion Incentive Fund program may enroll into the program any year following the foaling year for a fee of $600, making offspring from each year enrolled eligible for licensing.

For offspring of the stallion to compete in the 2 and 3 year old SIF classes, the grandfather clause stallion nomination form must be submitted and the stallion must be sold in the SIF program for the competition year prior to entry in the SIF class.

If the grandfather fee is paid by a person other than the stallion owner, a waiver form signed by the stallion owner must be submitted to the NSBA.
