On October 21, 2022, the National Snaffle Bit Association welcomed three new members into the NSBA Quarter Million Dollar Club at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Induction into the NSBA Quarter Million Dollar Club tells the story of a career that demonstrates sustained excellence, and profound impact. NSBA is proud to welcome Charlie Cole, Sara Simons, and Keith Miller to this elite group within our membership.

Charlie Cole has been involved in our industry for more that 35 years, and has trained over 50 world champions. His success has been woven through every aspect of our industry, accruing more than $262, 845 across disciplines including the Western Pleasure, Trail, Western Riding, and Pleasure Driving. 

Sara Simons has truly spent her entire lifetime in the horse industry. From a successful youth and amateur exhibitor, to her professional career beginning in 2008, she has accrued more than $290,000 in NSBA earnings in the all around events. 

Keith Miller unofficially crossed into the Quarter Million Dollar Club at this year’s 2022 All American Quarter Horse Congress. Keith is best known for his success in the training, and preparation of Hunter Under Saddle horses. To date, Keith has earned approximately $260,000 in NSBA earnings. ease join me in congratulating Keith Miller.

In an almost 40 year history, only two individuals have previously reached the coveted achievement of becoming an NSBA Million Dollar Rider.  Jay Starnes, Summerton, South Carolina,  reached this incredible milestone in his career after the 2022 NSBA World Championship Show. Jay’s dedication to raising, training, and showing quality Western Pleasure horses has been a fundamental truth throughout not only his career, but his life in the industry. NSBA recognizes the rareness, and impressive caliber of this accomplishment. Congratulations Jay, on becoming NSBA’s newest Million Dollar Rider.

NSBA is dedicated to rewarding excellence, whether that excellence be a child who earns their first ever trophy through competing in the NYATT, or the incredible lifelong accomplishments we have just celebrated. Wherever you are on your journey as a horsemen, NSBA is proud to honor all individuals who work to better the show horse community, and the horses themselves. Each of these riders will be officially inducted at the 2023 NSBA Honors Banquet, on August 13, 2022. We congratulate Charlie Cole, Sara Simons, Keith Miller, and Jay Starnes.

Established in 1983, the National Snaffle Bit Association has expanded from its roots in the Western Pleasure discipline to recognize various disciplines and eight breed associations in competition. NSBA’s mission is to grow the show horse community through various equine programs and events where every activity benefits horses, breeders, owners and exhibitors alike.

The National Snaffle Bit Association has more than 20,000 active members and more than 44,000 registered horses across its eight alliance breed organizations. In 2021, NSBA members earned more than $13.6 million in monetary awards at NSBA-sanctioned horse shows. The association sanctioned nearly 600 horse show events and close to 200,000 horse show entries last year.
