The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to report that NSBA Quarter Million Dollar rider Susan Scott, of Ocala, Florida, died suddenly on Friday, January 3, 2020, as a result of an automobile accident..

Susan, who grew up in Miami, Florida, began showing horses at a young age, competing in Open and breed shows around the state. She met her husband, Stanley Scott, at a horse show when a friend introduced the couple. Stanley and Susan bought Haylo Farms in Ocala and began a horse breeding operation with five horses, later growing to as many as 150 head, as well as a cattle operation. The couple had downsized their operation to a smaller scale in recent years.

Stanley and Susan have been involved with NSBA’s programs from their infancy, competing in Breeders Championship Futurity and NSBA World Championship Show classes as well as NSBA futurity classes at events around the country from the very first year they were offered, earning numerous futurity champions. Always competitively mounted, and often on a Haylo Farm-bred horse, Susan won numerous NSBA and AQHA titles.

The father, mother and daughter team of Stanley, Susan and daughter Nancy were a huge force in Non-Pro Western Longe Line events where they often placed first, second and third. Susan was named to NSBA’s famed Quarter Million Dollar Club in 2010, and was the first Non-Pro exhibitor to reach the milestone.

Nancy followed her parents’ love for horses and competition, showing in All Around, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure events. She joined Susan in NSBA’s Quarter Million Dollar Club in 2019.

Susan is survived by her husband Stanley, daughter Nancy and husband Seth Ditty, and grandson, Luke. NSBA will post arrangements once they become available. NSBA shares its condolences with the Scott and Ditty families.
