Cinco De Mayo Tuesday saw two added money NSBA futurity classes in the Three Year Old Open and Limited Hunter Under Saddle and the $5,000 Limited Horse Western Pleasure at the Madness AQHA and NSBA show, taking place at World Equestrian Center-Wilmington.
Last Minute Decision Leads To Dual Win

Farley McLendon decided at the last minute to come to The Madness, and it resulted in two of her horses making big wins in the Three Year Old Open and Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle. Farley showed Plot Twistt to the Open win for Allison Rassinoux, earning $611.20, and Farley had asked Amanda Gately to show Ill Sleep On It for Rebecca Edwards, and that duo garnered the Limited division win and $400.
Farley noted that the two horses are very different. “Plot Twistt or ’Hamish’ is by Enticed and Ill Sleep On It or ‘Bubba’ is by Too Sleepy To Zip,” she said. “They’re both owned by great individuals. They’re both kind, but they have two totally different looks, so it just depends on what the judge is looking for that day.”
Farley noticed improvements with Hamish. “I just showed him for the first time in the Maiden class in Florida and got to show him twice there,” she said. “He’s getting more solid and figuring things out. I just got him in November. We bought him for Allison to come after her last show horse.”
The top placings in the Three Year Old Open Hunter Under Saddle Futurity were:
Champions: Plot Twistt, Farley McLendon for Allison Rassinoux, $611.20
Reserve Champions: Better Invy The Best, Amber Pickard for Amanda Mozal, $420.20
Third: Enticed N Addictive, Dawn Baker for Ann Lapacinski, $362.90
Fourth/Limited Champion: Ill Sleep On It, Amanda Gately for Rebecca Edward, $362.90/$400
Fifth/Reserve Limited Champion: All The Pretty Girlz, Carmen Mayabb for Brooke DeBuhr, $171.90/$300
Catch Ride Leads To Limited Win For Amanda Gately

“I asked the right person,” laughed Farley of Amanda Gately, who showed Ill Sleep On It to the Limited win in the Three Year Old Open Hunter Under Saddle Futurity. “I called Mandy and asked her if she wanted to try this horse and she said yes, so I hauled him here. She will be showing him in the Limited division at the Premier, so we took a spin on him here.”
“He was very easy and felt really good,” Amanda said of the Limited win. “I basically catch rode him and only had a few days on him so I don’t know him that well.”
Top five placings in the Three Year Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle Futurity were:
Champion: Ill Sleep On It, Amanda Gately for Rebecca Edwardm $400
Reserve Champion: All The Pretty Girlz, Carmen Mayabb for Brooke DeBuhr, $300
Third: Southern Starr, Dakota Rohrs for Todd Yoder, $200
Fourth: Makin A Wish, Archer Klenow for Heid Laskowski, $100
Fifth: O How She Moves Me, Marion Troyer for Jennifer Leasure
It Was ‘Lux’ For The Open and Limited 5K Western Pleasure Win

Although Tuesday saw a full slate of Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation classes, Western Pleasure riders vied for the win in the $5,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure. In the end it was Alex Sifuentez and MoneyNeverMadeTheMan taking both the Open win and the Limited Rider bonus for owner Patty Bogosh. They earned $1,476 for the Open win and a $250 Limited Rider bonus.
“I have had him for about a year and a half,” Alex said. “He’s five years old. I like how soft he is, and even though he’s a pretty big horse he can still go slow and pretty. I was pretty excited when I started hearing the judge’s cards.”
Alex and Patty share the gelding named ‘Lux’ for various events. “I’ll keep showing him in Western Pleasure, and Patty shows him in Showmanship and Western Pleasure, and we hope to add Trail by the end of this year.”
Patty was pleased with her horse. “He was so consistent and so soft, he was such a good boy and I was so proud of him,” she said. "I bought him because he reminded me a lot of my last horse, First One In Last One Out. Gil Galyean had called me and said that they had one that reminded them a lot of my last horse too, so I bought him late in his two year old year. We started showing him late last year.”
Top placings in the $5,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure included:
Champions/Limited Rider Bonus: MoneyNeverMadeTheMan, Alex Sifuentez for Patty Bogosh, $1,476/$250
Reserve champions: Make Me In Lace, Kenny Lakins for William and Brandy Napier, $1,014.75
Third: GI Jaane, Casey Willis for Jessica Landry, $876.38
Fourth: Made To Be Foxy, Clay Arrington for EMD Ranch Partners LLC, $461.25
