The final Saturday of The Madness offered payouts to Non-Pro Trail exhibitors and to riders of Maiden horses as the show worked toward its final day of competition. The day’ signature class was the Three Year Old and Over Maiden Western Pleasure, which attracted 22 tough competitors to compete for $54,000 in Added money among three divisions.
The day also saw tough competition for Non-Pros in the All Age Non-Pro Trail Futurity where $11,250 was awarded along with a $5,000 Rider Bonus for Limited Non-Pros.
All The Thiings Won All The Money In The Maiden

Breth Parrish rode All The Thiings to the $25,000 first place pay check in the Three Year Old and Over Open Maiden Western Pleasure for owner Cynthia Kaufman.
“'Ellie' by Fiire N Ice, that we own, and this is his oldest foal group, so it’s always special when we can win with one,” Bret said. “Cody and Tana (Parrish) raised her and own her mother, who is by Sherlock Holmes. This was her first baby.
“We knew she was special from when she was little. Of course I’m biased but I feel she doesn’t have any weaknesses. She jogs, she lopes and the best thing about her is her brain. I think you can see that when she goes around because she’s just happy doing her job. She just has such natural talent.”
Bret was thankful for the moment. “It doesn’t come around often riding a horse like this, but when you do get it, especially at my age, you enjoy it,” he said. “I thank God for giving me a chance, and I was blessed to come out on top. I always feel like this class is the premier slot class of the year, and I think it was that again this year – it was a very deep group of horses. Her owner Cindy Kaufman and her husband have been a huge blessing to our business and are wonderful people. She trusts us and believes in us and it’s been wonderful.".
“What a class,” added Cindy. “It was deep and big and to think they’re just babies. We’re so excited because this was the first Fiire N Ice baby that’s been shown by a Parrish. I’m also excited because now I’ll get to start riding and showing her too. In the next few weeks I will get to go down to Georgia to the Parrishes and get to start riding her.”
Also during the Maiden class, Katy Jo Zuidema was recognized for achieving the one million dollar milestone in lifetime NSBA earnings. She placed sixth in the class with Ten Four Good Buddie, owned by Wayne and Judy Davis, earning $2,500, which catapulted her over the million dollar mark.

“She is a double-registered APHA and AQHA mare, so I’ll be showing her at the Premier in the Intermediate and the Color classes. Blake might show her a little bit too, we might switch on and off, and we’ll see how it goes!”

Non Pros Tie For Trail Win

In the All Age Non-Pro Trail, two exhibitors from the same barn tied to win the Non-Pro division. Becky Crider-Durrett and Stillrockinthehouse and Elizabeth Maggert and Cookin Somethin Up scored identical 244 composite scores, and ended up splitting the top two place award money at $3,750 each. Both work under the direction of Nick and Carmen Mayabb.
Becky Durrett won the tiebreaker and took home the first place trophy in the class. “I’ve been doing Trail for a little over a year now,” she said. “Today was probably the best go I’ve ever had. I was really excited about it. My horse’s barn name is Sam, and we’ve had him two years at the end of this month. He's five years old. We also show Level 2 Horsemanship."
Becky also won the Limited division of the class, earning an additional $2,500.

Sarah Maggert ended up with the second place award but an equal share of the money in the Non-Pro Trail Futurity. “I wouldn’t want to split it with any other person,” she laughed..
“Like Becky, I probably had the best go I’ve had today. It was a lot of fun. I don’t get to show that much anymore, but the horse was ready. I’m a veterinarian, so I don’t have a lot of free time to show.
“His barn name is Hank and he’s five years old. My mom and I bred him, and he’s out of a mare I showed called Caught Me Lookin. It’s been rewarding in more than one way. We’re concentrating on Trail for now, but we’ll be building more events in the future.”
Both ladies will be competing the NSBA World Show, Quarter Horse Congress and possibly the AQHA World Show
Nick Mayabb continued his winning streak by claiming the first place check in the First Year Green Trail class with Look Here Cowboy, earning $607.60.
