Western Pleasure classes were featured for most of the day on Wednesday at the APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The John Justin Arena also saw Trail and Western Riding, but the majority of classes included Amateur, Masters Amateur and Open pleasure classes throughout the day.

Good To Know and Tim Snapp Win Breeders Trust Three Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure

Tim Snapp and his homebred gelding Good To Know placed at the top of the cards in the Breeders Trust Three Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure, earning $2,934 for the win.

“He was amazing,” he said. “It’s one of the best rides I’ve ever had on him.”

The duo were last year’s Intermediate Two Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure champions. “Wade Parks started him for us, and he’s helped us a little bit this year but we’ve been showing him on our own some too,” Tim said. “We won the 50 & Over Color Western Pleasure at the NSBA World Show this year. He’s going to have a great future in the All Around events.

Named after Tim’s wife Cindy’s father, Jerry Mac, the gelding known as Mac is by CR Good Machine and out of the Snapps’ mare Sexy Invitation. “We’re really excited about his full brother. He’s two this year and he’s pretty big. Cindy plans to show him in the Three Year Old Breeders Trust Hunter Under Saddle events next year.”

Brady and Jay Z Win Two Year Old Non-Pro Sweepstakes

Brady Walker showed Sittin Sideways to win the Two Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure Sweepstakes. Brady and his family bought the Lopin My Best gelding who is known as Jay Z as a baby from Angela Finnegan.

“Callie Rouse called us and told us that she had a feeling about him, and that we should get him,” Brady said. “We saw a lot of potential in him too. He was so good. I’m looking forward to showing him next year in the Three Year Old events, and we’ll be adding Trail and the Western All Around events.”

Brady flew in from Idaho specifically to show in the Two Year Old class. “I just finished a program and I’m going to be working on my bachelors degree in business,” he said. “I just got in last night, and I’m flying right back out. It was worth it though!”

Erin Weis And Elicious Unanimous Champions in Amateur Senrio Western Pleasure

The judges were in total agreement on the APHA and NSBA champion in Amateur Senior Western Pleasure, with Erin Weis and Elicious sweeping all the cards.

“We bought Eli in utero at about 30 days confirmed in foal,” Erin said. “He’s a very special horse to us and he probably won’t ever be sold. We’ve won the Two Year Old Non-Pro, Three Year Old Non-Pro, Amateur Junior twice and now the Amateur Senior Western Pleasure here. This was his first year as a Senior horse since he’s six this year.

He's not a very big horse, and in fact we call him our pony, but he makes up for it in how he shows.”

Carla Perri and Only Good Times Earn First World Title in Masters Amateur Senior Western Pleasure

Carla Perri had to take a moment to let her first world championship sink in after she showed Only Good Times to win the Masters Amateur Senior Western Pleasure. “It’s surreal,” she said. “This is my once in a lifetime experience, and I’m trying to be in the moment.

“I’ve been showing APHA for about eight or nine years. I had a Novice Amateur horse and then I got Howard five years ago. Western Pleasure is his main thing, but we also do Trail, Horsemanship and Showmanship.”

The ten year old gelding is by By Appointment Only.

Other champions named on Wednesday included Novice Amateur Trail champions Plenty Of Tats Rhythm and Natasha Renda; Non-Pro Three Year Old Trail Sweepstakes, Mr Lazy and Sara Beth Carr; Junior Western Riding, Hez Blazin Trouble and Sara Simons for Bonnie Sheren; Junior Western Pleasure, Refleet and Sara Simons for Chase Hanson; Performance Halter Stallions, Bank On The Best, Jason Smith for Shiloh/Garrett Eggers; Performance Halter Geldings, NSBA champion Hez Blazin Trouble and Andrea Simons for Bonnie Sheren; Performance Halter Mares, Not To Be Repeated, Scott Suggs for Jennifer Benfante; Bridleless Western Pleasure Sweepstakes, Candy Confidential and Tim Gillespie for Stacey Holyoak.
