Certificate of Eligibility

What is a Certificate of Eligibility? 

A Certificate of Eligibility is the NSBA registration and  is a requirement for horses being shown in any NSBA class, expect for Dual Approved classes. If your horse is already enrolled in NSBA's Breeders Championship Futurity, Color Breeders Championship Futurity or Stallion Incentive Fund License Program, you already have a Certificate of Eligibility. If your horse is not already enrolled, you can receive the required certificate by registering with NSBA.

Where do I need to show my Certificate?

If you are only showing in Dual Approved classes, the certificate is not required; All other classes require a Certificate of Eligibility. Show management will ask to see a copy of your certification at the time of entry, along with a current membership card for the owner and exhibitor of the horse.

How do I get a Certificate for my horse?

If your horse does not have one, a copy of the horse's breed registration papers must accompany the application. A "Pending" registration is allowed if you have not received your breed registration papers. The cost to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility is $35 (fee listed are cash and check paying customers).

What if I lose my Certificate or need to Transfer ownership?

You can obtain a duplicate Certificate from the NSBA office. To Transfer the certificate to a new owner, or obtain a duplicate copy, the fee is $35.

Do I need to renew my horse's Certificate each year?

No. Once your horse is registered with NSBA or nominated to the Breeders Championships Futurity, Color Breeders Championship Futurity or Stallion Incentive Fund Program, there is not an annual payment due for your horse. In the event of a transfer of ownership, the new owner will need to submit a transfer.

If I am showing at the NSBA World Championship Show, do I need a Certificate of Eligibility?

Yes. In order to show at the NSBA World Championship Show your horse will need to have a Certificate of Eligibility. If your horse is already enrolled in NSBA's Breeders Championship Futurity, Color Breeders Championship Futurity or Stallion Incentive Fund Program, you already have meet the Certificate of Eligibility requirement.
