About the NSBA Foundation

Registered 501(c)3

The NSBA Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 organization that provides funding to support the efforts of the Association through programming specific to the equine industry and the NSBA Membership. The foundation supports the following programs...

Equestrians With Disabilities

This program provides a venue for riders, with physical and cognitive disabilities, that love to compete, by offering classes including showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, trail, western pleasure and hunter under saddle.
Classes are offered for exhibitors who can ride independently, and those who need support, and may be held at NSBA approved Shows, US Para-Equestrian events, or may be stand-alone events.

Heroes On Horses

The NSBA Foundation began it's involvement in the Heroes on Horses effort in 2011, by holding classes where veterans compete for World Championship titles and awards, during the NSBA World Championship Show.
The annual NSBA event compliments the work of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), and its Heroes for Horses program.

Education

Each year, the NSBA Foundation offers a $2,000 scholarship to an NSBA youth member, who applies and meets the scholarship criteria. The program is open to applicants who will be attending an accredited college or university, on a full-time basis for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
An applicant may be awarded only one NSBA Foundation scholarship throughout their academic education.

Trainers Crisis Fund

The NSBA Trainer Crisis Fund was established to support horse trainers, and their families, who find themselves in a situation of financial need, as a result of sudden and demonstrable hardship, disaster of a severe and unexpected nature, or from serious physical illness or injury.
The Crisis Fund may provide information, resources, potential financial support, and local contacts that may assist a trainer and their family to rebuild their business, and meet current and on-going needs.

Animal Welfare Fund

The National Snaffle Bit Association is committed to the humane and proper treatment of all animals. NSBA has developed, and enforces, strict rules to ensure humane treatment of all horses.
NSBA supports the development procedures that assure equality, fairness, safety, health, and welfare for participants.

The Champion Fund

The Champion Fund provides unrestricted donations, to be directed to specific programmatic needs, at the discretion of the NSBA Foundation Board of Directors.
It is designed to offset new program startup costs, administrative costs, administrative expenses, or financial shortfalls, in programmatic efforts that are currently not covered in special project status.
