3 Year Old Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle Slot Champions

After a full day of Trail runs, the final class on Wednesday saw the SOQHA/NSBA Three Year Old and Older $1,000 Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle Slot class take place in the Sanctuary Arena, with judges Elizabeth Baker, John Briggs, Tom Robertson and Andrea Simons officiating the class.

Laura Spell, showing Al Be Under The Hood for owner Allison Board, took home the top placing as well as won the champion title in the Limited Rider division. The trio earned $2,500 for the first place finish in the class and a bonus of $250 for the Limited Rider win.

“He’s by the Mechanic and out of Stylin Asset, and we call him Wally,” Laura said. “We’ve had him since about June of 2021. We didn’t show him last year, and his first show out was at March To The Arch, and he won that class. We also showed him at the A Sudden Impulse and he was reserve there.

It was a really nice class of horses today, and everyone showed really well. I just really enjoy riding this horse. On the ground, he’s a real pain, but once you’re on him, he is just a great pleasure to ride.”

Laura will continue to show Wally in Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle events as well as the Limited Open Three Year Old Hunter Under Saddle. Allison will also be showing him in Limited Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle at the NSBA World Championship Show this summer.
