EWD - Equestrian With Disabilities Shows

The NSBA Foundation’s promotion of Equestrians With Disabilities provides opportunities for riders with physical and cognitive disabilities to compete with horses.

NSBA approval allows events to offer points, awards, and integration with larger shows (e.g., NSBA World Championship), elevating the status of adaptive classes and motivating participants. The National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) actively supports equestrian activities for riders with disabilities through its Equestrians With Disabilities (EWD) program. This initiative allows riders with physical or cognitive disabilities to compete in classes at NSBA-approved shows, including options for independent riders and those needing support. Hosting such events aligns with NSBA's mission to promote and improve the show horse community while fostering inclusivity.

NSBA encourages all shows to consider adding EWD classes to their approval, all therapeutic riding centers to add competition to their programs, and all of its members to help grow and support EWD competition.
