T Joe Jeane Memorial Scholarship

About

The T. Joe Jeane Memorial Scholarship is a multi-year scholarship awarded to a NSBA member following the completion of their first year of veterinary school. The T. Joe Jeane Memorial Scholarship is a $12,000 scholarship distributed equally over the remaining three years.

The T. Joe Jeane Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to support the NSBA Foundation’s continuing educational goals for the NSBA membership. The award is presented once every three years to one deserving second year veterinary medicine student, attending an AVMA-accredited institution that meets the qualifying eligibility requirements. $4000 will be distributed annually over the three-year duration, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution.

Scholarship selection criteria includes financial need, academic merit, active involvement in the horse industry, equine husbandry, community involvement, communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.

T. Joe Jeane was the son of long-time NSBA members Joe and Suzy Jeane, and spent the majority of his youth at his parent’s ranch, Down The Rail, in Valley View, Texas. Joe had earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and a masters in medical sciences from Mississippi Baptist College, and had begun to pursue his dream of pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine at the time of his death in 2021.

Applications will be accepted starting December 1 through February 1 with the announcement of the winner in May. All applicants must be a NSBA member in good standing for at least one year or a member in good standing of any of the NSBA breed affiliate alliance members.
